Robben had hung up his boots with Bayern Munich at 35 years of age. The legendary winger has acquired 12 league titles and one Champions League trophy over a glittering career whilst also helping the Netherlands to reach the 2010 World Cup final.
The absence of football proved to be a hard event for the Dutchman, something we witnessed when he joined the Bayern training earlier this month.
He has now announced his permanent return for the 2020/21 season, with Groningen fans hoping he can bring the same excitement he did 20 years ago when he burst on the scene in Holland as a 16-year-old.
