Notts County host Aldershot Town as Magpies hope to maintain play-off position

Notts County host Aldershot Town in the Vanarama National League looking to consolidate their play-off spot.

The Magpies are currently 6th in the table and come into this one in fine form, losing just once in their last seven games in all competitions, including a 2-0 victory at top of the table Barrow on Saturday.

Their opponents Aldershot lie 17th in England’s 5th tier and only four points clear of the bottom three. They were beaten 1-0 by Dagenham and Redbridge at the weekend.

Victory for County tonight will see them move into the top three while three points for Aldershot would move ease their relegation woes, potentially moving as high as 14th.

Neal Ardley on Saturday’s match-winner, Tom Crawford

“The change in Tom Crawford since the opening three months of the season is phenomenal. It’s like a different player has walked in the door.

“The boys love him and he’s a great lad who’s close with Regan and Connell Rawlinson, who are positive influences on him.

“In training I see a hunger in him to do well and get on at his team-mates that rivals the likes of Jim O’Brien and Michael Doyle.

“It’s no coincidence that he’s becoming a strong player for us.”

Danny Searle on tonight’s opponents

“The onus will be on them… But we know with those type of games, we’ve got the tools to hurt them. ”

Head-to-head

Notts County wins – 23

Draws – 7

Aldershot wins – 10
