After two hard-fought draws against Arsenal and Manchester City, Crystal Palace will be hoping to pick up the three points against a Southampton side who were undefeated in six before their 3-2 loss against Wolves on the weekend.
The Saints let a 2-0 lead slip but will still be hopeful that they can climb further away from the relegation zone with this midweek fixture.
Crystal Palace will be pleased that Max Meyer has recovered from injury but still have five players injured, including Andros Townsend and Jeffrey Schlupp. Club captain Luka Milivojevic is still suspended.
Southampton have most of their squad fit but defender Jan Bednarek, who scored on the weekend, is out with an Achilles injury.
Milivojevic’s suspension has meant Palace’s £500,000 signing James McCarthy has started and Roy was full of praise for the midfielder’s performance away at the Etihad.
“I think James McCarthy has been excellent. He’s getting better and better. His role in the second goal at the Etihad was incredible and he deserves a lot of credit.”
Whilst Hasenhuttl urged for Southampton to learn from their mistakes at the week if they want to be battling for a top ten finish.
“I think it can help us also to learn from this and know that when you want to be a top-10 team then these are the games you have to win.”
The last two fixtures have both finished 1-1. Southampton claimed the last victory between the two sides when they beat Crystal Palace 2-0 back in September 2018.
