Tottenham injury crisis thickens as Alli ruled out till March

Mauricio Pochettino’s selection headaches may have now turned into migraines as dynamic midfielder Dele Alli has been ruled out of action until March.

The news comes as a blow to the Lilywhites who already have attacking options Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son unavailable for at least the next few weeks.

Alli, who scored the equaliser during Spurs’ late 2-1 win over Fulham on Sunday, suffered the injury after pulling up with a hamstring strain which saw him in visible discomfort.

The England international is therefore set to miss his team’s visit to Stamford Bridge in the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday whilst also being unavailable for the final should Tottenham get there as well as the Champions League last 16 tie against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium.

Tottenham’s twitter account confirmed the duration of the injury after tests over the past few days.

Alli is the latest player to get injured for Spurs amongst a squad whose players went further in the World Cup than any other. Perhaps the weight of games is finally catching up with many of Pochettino’s men with almost all his key players missing time through injury at some point this season.

It remains to be seen whether the latest injury setback will force Daniel Levy to spend some cash in the transfer market after failing to spend a penny during the summer window.

It could instead perhaps present an opportunity for younger players such as strikers Kazaiah Sterling and Troy Parrott to step up to the team, with Fernando Llorente failing to fire so far this season.

Tottenham face Chelsea on Thursday night before an FA Cup trip to Selhurst Park entails on Sunday with their Argentine coach hoping they will still be in both domestic cups come Monday morning.
