Claude Puel has turned Leicesters fortunes around and potentially saved himself from losing his job after taking down both Chelsea and Manchester City in successive matches.
The Frenchman found himself under immense pressure after a series of losses, but it was the manner of the defeats causing immense frustration amongst the supporters. Wins against two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs has seen them rise to seventh place in the table, and a sense of positivity returning to the stands.
Cardiff City meanwhile have suffered in recent weeks and now sit 17th in the table after just one win in their last five games. A 5-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester United was followed by a good 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace. A game they could, and perhaps should, have lost had it not been for the latter’s wasteful finishing.
Puel will be without long-term absentee Daniel Amartey, who is not expected to play again this season. The Leicester boss will also be unable to call on Matty James who is struggling for fitness after a period on the sidelines.
Cardiff may find themselves without Calum Paterson, who has suffered from a knee injury over Christmas. Kenneth Zohore is also out injured for a few more weeks, leaving Warnock with limited choices to spearhead his attack.
The visitors are yet to register and away win this season, drawing two and losing seven of their nine trips in the Premier League this season. But Victor Camarasa has been in good form, being directly involved in two of Cardiffs last three Premier League goals, scoring one and assisting another.
The reverse fixture saw Leicester City win 1-0 in Cardiff, with Demerai Gray scoring the winner. Cardiff will hope more experience in the league will help them prevent the same fate this time around.
