Arsenal responds to allegations of players on ‘hippy crack’

Arsenal have said they will warn a number of players following reports of a group of players using ‘hippy crack’ prior to the season starting.

Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Sead Kolasinac and Matteo Guendouzi met at a ‘champagne and vodka party’ at a London nightclub.

The Sun published a video showing players holding balloons which are said to have contained nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas – a common legal high.

The video continues to show Guendouzi seemingly passing out after inhaling from one balloon.

But the Premier League club have now commented on the matter outlining their response to the allegations.

“The players will be spoken to about this and reminded of their responsibilities as representatives of the Club.” said the statement.

A source to The Sun said: “Boxes of ‘hippy crack’ canisters were brought in and the players were blowing up balloons and inhaling. It got pretty wild.

“It was incredible to see so-called athletes and role models taking risks with a dangerous substance. If their fans – and coach – could have seen what was going on they’d have been horrified.”
