Zambia Win African Cup of Nations

Zambia have won the African Cup of Nations after beating Ivory Coast in a penalty shoot out.

The match finished goalless and went to penalty kicks.

The sides went to 7-7 before Manchester City defender Kolo Toure’s eighth penalty was saved by Zambian goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene.

Then Rainford Kalaba missed a chance to win the Cup for Zambia by missing their eighth.

Arsenal’s Gervinho put Ivory Coast’s ninth wide and Zambia converted theirs to win the cup, Stophira Sunzu being the cool head with the winning kick.

Didier Drogba missed a penalty in normal time but later converted his in the shoot out.

Zambia lost their entire squad of players after an air crash in Gabon in 1993.
