Crew Add Chilean International

Columbus Crew have signed Chilean midfielder Milovan Mirosevic. This player has a most interesting and diverse bio. It is an interesting addition to the league.

The Columbus Crew announced today that it has signed Chilean midfielder Milovan Mirosevic to a multi-year contract, pending receipt of his P-1 work visa. Per club and league policy, no further terms of the deal were disclosed.

The 31-year-old attacker joins the Crew from Universidad Católica of the Chilean first division, where he served as captain and scored 46 goals in 108 games over the last three seasons, which was his second stint with the storied club.

“Milo brings a lot of quality and experience,” said Crew head coach Robert Warzycha. “He has represented his country, captained his club, been a top scorer in the Chilean league and played in important matches. He is a good passer, very technical, has good speed and can shoot from distance. We are very happy to be able to incorporate him into our attack.”

A Chilean of Croatian descent, Mirosevic began his professional career at Católica where he appeared in 108 matches and scored 25 goals from 1997-2002. In 2002 he helped his team win the Chilean Apertura tournament. In 2003, he was transferred to Racing Club of Argentina where he spent the next three seasons, appearing in 91 matches and scoring 11 goals.

After stints at Beitar Jerusalem of Israel (2006-07) and Argentinos Juniors of Argentina (2008), he returned to Católica and captained the team to four championships – Apertura titles in 2009 and 2011, the 2010 league title, when a single season was contested, and the 2011 Chilean Cup. He led the league in scoring in 2010 with 19 goals.

Mirosevic has been capped 25 times for the Chilean National team, appearing most recently in a pair of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay (4-0 loss on Nov. 11, 2011) and Paraguay (2-0 win on Nov. 15, 2011).
