Monterrey Crash out of World Club Cup

CONCACAF Cup champions Monterrey fell at the first hurdle in the World Club Cup.

They drew 1-1 with Asian Champions Kashiwa Reysol but lost a subsequent penalty shoot out. In the other match played so far, Al Sadd of Qatar eliminated Tunisians Esperance 2-1.

Al Sadd now play Barecelona and Kashiwa play Santos of Brazil.

The other Santos, Mexican club Santos Laguna lost their Mexican Apertura second leg tonight 3-1 against Tigres. Tigres lead 1-0 from the first leg and take the title with a 4-1 aggregate.
